Update

Saturday 19th Feb saw the running of The National Cross Country Championships,held this year at Alton Towers.Although we only had 4 athletes competing it was certainly a day that no-one will forget.Arriving at the venue slightly before 9 a.m we were greeted by snow and rain.The rain continued throughout the day,ensuring what Athletics Weekly magazine called, 'One of the muddiest Nationals ever!'Emma Peniston maintained her inspiring record of competing in everyone of the cross country races this year on the clubs calendar,competing in the Ladies under 17 race.Aidan McClure,another near ever present competed in the Mens Under 17 race,Chelsea Brockett in the Ladies under 20 race and Dennis Rainbow competed in the Senior Mens event.All had strong runs in extremely testing conditions.Well done!The biggest thanks should go towards our runners support crew.Paul Peniston and ,of course,Mr A faced an extremely long day.The first race started at 11 o'clock,whilst the Senior Mens race did not start until 3.15pm.Heart felt thanks are extended towards both in the freezing conditions,and I must admit feeling guilty as at one point on the way home,everyone in the car was sleeping except Paul ,who was driving!Thankyou Paul and Mr A!

On Sunday 20th was The Sleaford Half Marathon.We had seven runners competing:

Timothy Swan-Smith 118th 1hr 35.32

Ian Scott 172nd 1hr 40.35

Tony Tomblin 297th 1hr 50.23

Andrew Bailey 484th 2hr 10.33

Di Gill 497th 2hr 13.03

Bob Shaw 521st 2hr 17.54

There was also a 3k Fun Run held on the day in which we had one athlete running:

David Scott(aged 9) 25th out of 79 runners.

The next few weeks are shaping up to be very busy.We have members competing in the following events:

27th Feb Lincolnshire League Cross Country Hubbards Hills,Louth(times on Louth A.C website).

Sat 5th March The Belvoir Challenge 16/26 mile off road race. Entries have now closed.

Sun 6th March The Lincolnshire Poacher Challenge off road Half Marathon(details on Toonie Express Website).No entries on the day.

Sun 13th March Ashby 20 mile race.Online entries close 11th March.

Sun 13th March Chilly Willy 5k,Peterborough.

Sun 20th March The Newtons Fraction Half Marathon,Grantham.(details on Grantham A.C website).No entries on the day.Postal entries close 10th March.Online entries close 16th March.

Sunday 3rd April once again sees the running of The Friskney Half Marathon.This event,as most of you will know is organized by ourselves.It is a great event,set around the country lanes of Friskney.The course is flat and ,over the years ,has consistently produced fast times.If you are chasing that personal best time,this event is the one.Please support the club and think about running this great event.
